Torture Methods Used at Tianjin Women's Labor Camp

(Clearwisdom.net) Many of the tortures that Jiang's faction has used to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners have been exposed over the past 5 years. Here are a few more atrocities that have taken place in Tianjin Women's Labor Camp.

1) Practitioners forced to eat stool and drink urine, and soaked in cold water on frigid nights

From February to early June 2003, the second brigade at Tianjin Women's Labor Camp in Banqiao, Dagang District, Tianjin City launched a persecution of practitioners to force them to be "reformed." The guards in the first squadron locked each practitioner in a separate room and made them to stand in the cold. No water or toilet paper was supplied, and only a hard steamed bun was given for each meal. The "personal cangues" [1] (mostly drug addicts) intentionally asked the practitioners if the meal was enough. If the practitioner answered that it was not enough, they reduced the next meal to half a bun. If the practitioner answered that it was too much, they increased the next meal to two buns and made the practitioner eat them all at once. If they didn't eat them all, they stuffed the buns into the practitioner's mouth and forced them down.

No water was supplied and the practitioners protested against this. The cangues then filled lunchboxes with ice cold water and forced the practitioners to drink it all at once. If they didn't drink it all, they poured it into practitioner's mouth. They didn't allow practitioners to use the toilet. Some practitioners' legs swelled up and skin turned pink from not being allowed to relieve themselves. Despite this, the cangues continued to force practitioners to stand for a long time. They made practitioners drink their own urine and eat their stool if they were unable to hold it.

On cold nights in February and March, a guard accompanied by a prisoner named Xiao Yuliu dragged Ms. Dong Yuying, a practitioner, from the isolation cell to the yard. They unbuttoned Ms. Dong's collar and poured ice cold water down her chest and back. They patted her clothes as they poured the water as to facilitate the soaking of her clothes. They poured more water on her the next night before her clothes dried out. Xiao Yuliu was rewarded with a reduction of four months in her term for torturing practitioners.

The heads in the first squadron in charge of reforming practitioners are Gao Huachao and two other people with the surnames Xia and Liu.

2) Sexual torture and beating to death

There were usually two or three cangues, who were drug addicts, in a group to torture the practitioners. They took off the practitioners' pants, pressed the practitioners down to the ground and inserted cucumbers, sticks and gloved fingers into the practitioners' vaginas. Practitioners who suffered from this torture included Ms. Xu, who was over 40 years old, and 57-year-old Ms. Yang.

This happened in the 2nd squadron. The chief in charge was Kou Na. She was transferred out of the labor camp for beating practitioner Ms. Zhao Dewen to death. The head of the brigade was Liu Xiaohong. Because several practitioners were beaten to death during the forced reformation period, the brigade was dismissed in mid June 2003. Practitioners were transferred to the first brigade in Dagang District and Tianjin Jianxin Women's Labor Camp in Hexi District.

3) "Three Straightened and One Staring"

The so-called "three straightened and one staring" is a torture forcing practitioners to maintain a certain sitting position. The "seat" is a small stool that is universally used in labor camps in China. The practitioners are forced to sit on it with the legs kept together. The thighs are kept horizontal and the shins are kept vertical. The fingers point towards each other and the palms are put on the tops of the knees. The neck, back and waist are straightened. This is called "Three straightened." The eyes look straight and stare at a spot designated by the cangues. Blinking is disallowed. As long as a practitioner refuses to be reformed, she will have to sit like this without moving for a long time. This is called "three straightened and one staring."

The cangues would trample the practitioner's back if she bent over even slightly. The cangues kicked the practitioner if she relaxed her back. If the practitioner even slightly relaxed her jaw, the cangues chopped at her throat with their hands. If the practitioner blinked, the cangues tore at her eyelashes as punishment. If the practitioner didn't blink, the cangues created "opportunities." They inserted a long sharp tightly-rolled piece of paper into the practitioner's nostril, scratched the practitioner's feet, or pulled a pubic hair from the practitioner and forced her to hold it in her mouth.

The above persecution happened during the forced reformation period in November 2003 at Xinjian Women's Labor Camp in Tianjin City. Those who carried out the tortures were Zhang Ying, Zhang Lan, Xu Ying and a guard named Cao.

The drug addicts who persecuted practitioners were rewarded with reductions in their terms. The guards who instigated and connived the tortures were rewarded with money, prizes, a salary increase or promotion.

[1] Personal Cangues: A "cangue" is a heavy wooden yoke that is borne on the shoulders, enclosing the arms and neck, which was used in the past as a form of punishment. Here it indicates a person who is designated to watch practitioners 24 hours a day.
