  • Eurotransplant Foundation Member Supports Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong

The Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) (European Branch) was announced to be officially established at a press conference on the afternoon of February 3, 2007 in front of the Chinese Embassy in London. More than 40 important members of government and prominent members of society from European countries have joined CIPFG-Europe, including members of parliament, senators, lawyers, clergymen, chairmen of NGOs, doctors, writers, journalists and officials from major enterprises and governments in over a dozen countries.

Groups, organizations and politicians from over a dozen European countries sent letters to express their support for the establishment of CIPFG-Europe, including the United Nations Association of World Citizens, the International Society for Human Rights in Germany, the Eurotransplant Foundation in Holland, Association Supporting Chinese Human Rights in Sweden, European Parliament Vice President Edward MacMillan-Scott, Members of Parliament in the UK, Holland and Belgium, and Irish medical experts.

Below is the Statement of Support from a member of the Eurotransplant Foundation in Netherland.

    Statement of Support

The conclusions of the investigative report by David Kilgour and David Matas of July 6th 2006, together with already existing allegations by e.g. Amnesty International, have caused great concern among the international organ transplant community, since they provide credible evidence for the accusation that the Chinese authorities are implicated in a systematic persecution of Falun Gong followers, and that prisoners from that movement (together with other executed prisoners) are exploited as organ donors. The updated report of Mr. Kilgour and Mr. Matas of January 31st 2007 has further substantiated these alarming findings.

The transplant community has always strongly condemned the harvesting of transplantable organs from prisoners, during life or after execution, as an immoral practice that goes against every code of ethics relating to organ transplantation. This not only because there can be no guarantee that prisoners will choose to be donors by their free will and with valid consent, but also because the organs resulting from this practise are now sold to foreign patients at a high price. In this way desperate patients worldwide are also exploited. This undesirable commercialization of organ donation now appears to be linked to systematic violations of human rights, in which the judicial system corruptly cooperates with hospitals and the medical profession to gain huge profits at the expense of human dignity.

There is reason to believe that several thousand organ transplants per year are performed in China, made possible by this immoral and criminal practice. Transplant physicians and organizations around the world cannot but strongly protest against this outrage. The fact that followers from a peaceful movement such as Falun Gong are victimized as conscience prisoners and exploited as organ donors underlines the inhumane character of this organ harvesting system.

Now is the time for the Chinese government to give unrestricted access to independent investigators and observers, such as representatives from CIPFG, to visit prisons, mental institutions, labour camps and hospitals. The aim should be to put an immediate end to human rights violations and to make organ donation and transplantation in China transparent and consistent with universal ethical guidelines.

I pledge to support CIPFG's dedication, together with the transplant community, to achieve this.

    Yours sincerely,

    Eurotransplant Foundation

France: Practitioners Parade in Paris to Expose CCP Organ Harvesting Atrocities

From February 1 to 3, 2007, the 3rd World Conference against the Death Penalty was held in Paris. It ended with a grand parade on the last day. In order to expose the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) brutal persecution of Falun Gong, practitioners from France, Belgium and the Netherlands participated in the parade. With a re-enactment performance, they exposed the CCP's atrocities of organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners and the torture of practitioners, which drew attention from various media, meeting attendees and the local public. French TV2 showed the footage in its evening news.

Residents learn that the CCP harvest organs from live Falun Gong practitioners in China

Falun Gong practitioners displayed banners printed "Stop Organ Harvesting from Live Falun Gong Practitioners", "This Happens in China Every Day", "Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong". In their hands were exhibits that exposed the persecution and photos of those who had been persecuted to death, telling the world about the barbaric atrocities happening in China. Through a loudspeaker, practitioners broadcast details from the Matas & Kilgour Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China. Many who heard the truth flocked to ask for more information. Numerous media and individuals took photos. Quite a few commented that this way of exposing the persecution, which brought out the crimes directly, was very effective. A mother and a daughter kept clapping to show encouragement while the Falun Gong procession was passing by. When the parade paused, many went close to read the exhibits carefully and said, "thank you" to practitioners. One French lad told his friends while listening to the loudspeaker, "Falun Gong never lies."

The chairperson of ACAT (Action des Chretiens pour l'Abolition de la Torture et des executions capitales) in France, Mme. Eleonore Morel, commented about the CCP's organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners, "Such anti-human behaviour is too horrible to see."

Mme. Marie-Francois Lamperti, the Chairperson of ADH (Action Dignite Humaine), said, "China is the worst human rights violator in the world, including violations of the right to live. In China a large number of Falun Gong practitioners have been sentenced to prison. To expose these human rights violations is the reason why our association is here."

Tang Hanlong commented on behalf of Falun Gong Association, "The organs from Falun Gong practitioners account for 75% total organs harvested in China, which is alarming. The goal of our participation in this parade is to clarify the facts to the people in the world, to the media and to government agencies."

A Falun Gong practitioner from Belgium played a persecuted practitioner in the live anti-torture show. She said, "I hope more people could know that unparalleled evil in human history is happening in China right now. It just won't do if people do not know about or not to stop it. We are Falun Gong practitioners. Outside of China, we are free. But our fellow practitioners in China are subjected to live organ harvesting for profit. How could people know about this if we do not help them by telling people? It must not be allowed, it must be stopped. Our aim is to tell everyone that this is happening and must be put to a stop!"
