On March 24, 2001, Amnesty International hosted an international academic annual session on the topic: Opposing the Use of Violence and Torture Against Women. More than 100 legal experts, scholars, reporters, international human rights organization members, non-governmental organization members and students attended this session. Three Falun Gong practitioners and a member of "British Falun Gong's Friends" were also invited to attend the annual session.

After obtaining permission from the organizers, we displayed some inhumane torture photos of the female Falun Gong practitioners in China and an open letter from the female Falun Dafa practitioners in China appealing to the international community for help in stopping the evil deeds of Jiang Zemin and his followers. "British Falun Gong's Friends" also sent around their appeal letters, which were supportive of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

During our attendee speech, we were given a couple of minutes to introduce the situation of Falun Gong in China. A Falun Gong practitioner brought forth the facts of brutally tortured female Falun Gong practitioners in China, including mistreatment received after having been forcefully sent to mental hospitals. The speaker announced the fact that 49% of more than 170 Dafa practitioners, who had been tortured and persecuted to death, were female. The speaker also exposed the horrifying story from Masanjia Labor Camp in northeast China: 18 female Falun Gong practitioners were stripped naked and thrown into the cells of male prisoners.

The severe fact made all attendees shocked. These stories, which is similar to what takes place in horror films, had really happened in today's civilized world, moreover, with the witnesses and pictures all presented.

After the speech, many attendees and international organization members came to collect materials from the Falun Gong practitioners, expressed their willingness to help, and gave out their advice to Falun Gong practitioners about how to seek help from other international organizations.

At the time we left, the attendees took all the materials and photos. Amnesty International also showed their interests to invite us to attend other similar meetings and activities.
