(Minghui.org) Mr. Wu Jinshui, a Falun Gong practitioner from Maoming City, Guangdong Province, was illegally tried on September 25, 2015. Her lawyer entered a plea of not guilty, but no verdict was announced.

Mr. Wu's lawyer, Mr. Mao Hongwei, of Renminshidai Law Office in Guangzhou, immediately demanded that the shackles on his client be removed at the start of the court session. The judge instructed the bailiff to do so.

The procurator presented the accusation and said that a computer, a printer, Falun Gong books and Falun Gong informational materials were found in Mr. Wu's residence. Mr. Wu said that the accusation was inadmissible. First, he was absent when police ransacked his home, so no one knows if the so-called evidence was in his home. Secondly, even if they did find Falun Gong informational materials, it did not mean that he had committed a crime, because there is no law that forbids one to practice Falun Gong.

“I don't belong to any organization. I was introduced to Falun Gong by a friend. I felt that these days it is truly remarkable that there are people who follow the Falun Gong principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,” Mr. Wu said. “What is wrong with following Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and being a good person?” he asked the procurator, who did not know how to respond and turned his head away.

The procurator cited Mr. Wu's previous forced labor camp detention as evidence for his bad character.

“The forced labor system goes against current Chinese law and the Chinese constitution. It deprives people of their freedom without trial, and has now been abolished. Using it as evidence shows the illegality committed by Party officials.”

The procurator questioned how Mr. Wu was able to operate computers given that he had only an elementary school education. Mr. Wu told him that although he only attended the fourth grade, Falun Gong gave him wisdom. There used to be many unknown words in Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong, but now he could read and understand them all.

The presiding judge announced that the sentence would be given later by a collegiate bench, and then recessed the trial.

Mr. Wu's was arrested on May 27 this year. The police ransacked his home and seized many valuable items without his or his family's presence.
