(Minghui.org) Ms. Yang Yongmei from Jiaohe City, Jilin Province was sentenced to two years in prison in a secret trial held in August 2015, for her belief in Falun Gong. Her lawyer and family were not notified of the trial.
The lawyer heard about her sentence two months later when the family visited her at the detention center on October 29, 2015.
Ms. Yang's lawyer submitted Power of Attorney documents to the Jiaohe Police Department, the court and the Procuratorate, which they refused to accept. They would not even disclose who was in charge of Ms. Yang's case.
Ms. Yang was arrested on April 18, 2015, when she was telling people about Falun Gong and the persecution.
The 590 yuan that she was carrying at the time of her arrest was confiscated.
