(Minghui.org) Ms. Chen Chen, resident of Wuzhong City in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, has been sentenced to three years in prison for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Ms. Chen was arrested and had her home ransacked in December 2015, after being reported to police for talking to her students about Falun Gong in class.

Many people came to show their support when she was tried on June 17. The police dispersed the supporters and later arrested two of them, both Falun Gong practitioners, after the hearing was over.

The prosecution evidence included records of police interrogation of Ms. Chen’s elementary school pupils. Ms. Chen and her attorney questioned such evidence, as the law prohibits the use of testimony from minors as evidence against defendants.

The presiding judge, An Zhaojun, threatened Ms. Chen and her lawyer, and denied them their right to present a defense argument.

Not long after the trial, Ningxia Daily, a local paper, published an article defaming Falun Gong and Ms. Chen. More than ten local and national media outlets reprinted the report.

Months later, she was given the prison sentence on trumped up charges. It is unclear when the verdict was announced.
