Shandong Man Files Criminal Complaint Against Former Dictator for His Disability Due to the Persecution

October 25, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhang Keliang and his wife Ms. Wang Zhongyun of Shouguang City, Shandong Province, filed a criminal complaint against former dictator Jiang Zemin, the instigator of the persecution, shortly after May 2015.

The couple and their family have suffered tremendously as a result of the persecution of Falun Gong. In addition to being fired from their jobs, Mr. Zhang was disabled due to police beatings and is now unable to do heavy manual labor.

What the Family Has Endured

Mr. Zhang, an outstanding employee in his former company, and his wife have had their home ransacked and been arrested, interrogated, threatened, and beaten since 1999. Mr. Zhang's mother and the couple's only daughter were often harassed and followed by the police.

The couple's house has been ransacked seven times. Mr. Zhang was detained four times and ordered to spend a year in a forced labor camp (he was not admitted due to his disability). He was taken to a brainwashing center three times. Ms. Wang was detained three times and ordered to spend three years in a forced labor camp (she was not admitted due to vomiting that left her near death). She was taken to a brainwashing center twice.

Mr. Zhang's back was broken twice at the detention center. The first time he was arrested, a police officer sat down on him with his full force, fracturing Mr. Zhang’s spine. Writhing in pain, Mr. Zhang was surrounded by the other officers, who beat him until he stopped moving.

During the Chinese New Year, Mr. Zhang and his wife went back to visit his mother. Before they could even greet her, a dozen police officers rushed into the village and started searching for them.

The two were eventually arrested and interrogated separately. The police tortured Mr. Zhang for ten hours, beating him and shocking him with electric batons. His back was broken again.

Mr. Zhang has never fully recovered and can no longer stand up straight.

Ms. Wang was paralyzed in over half of her body at one point and could not take care of herself after being brutally interrogated. Despite this, she was not released and was instead sent to the detention center. She had to lie down in the detention center, and she needed the help of three people to use the toilet. She regained her health after being released and doing the Falun Gong exercises again.

The couple's daughter was only seven years old when they were first arrested. Having been followed everywhere by the police, she could no longer handle the pressure and dropped out of school for half a year in 3rd grade. During these 16 years, she has lived in fear, even as her relatives and friends have discriminated against her. Her own paternal grandmother, with whom she often stayed, vented her resentment on her. The harsh persecution has continued to haunt her to this day.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners during the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
