(Minghui.org) Approximately 1,000 Falun Dafa practitioners held a grand march in Brooklyn on October 15, 2023 to celebrate 420 million people who have quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations.

The march started at noon on 8th Avenue and went from 66th Street to 42nd street. Many Chinese businesses are located along the route, and Chinese families go there on Sunday to shop and eat. The area between 50th and 60th Street is always crowded.
Police from the 68th Precinct provided security and protection for the march. Practitioners met new precinct captain Kristen Schafer and thanked her and the other police officers.
Impressed by the beautiful banners, energetic dragon dance, and the Tian Guo Marching Band’s performances, many people applauded practitioners all along the route. Some took pictures and even video-streamed the parade on social media to their families in China. They said every section of the march was impressive, including the drum team and the dragon dance team.
Because of the ongoing suppression of Falun Dafa in China, many people said that they really like the freedom in the U.S., and a grand parade like this was impossible in China. Some said the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are wonderful. Some local residents and merchants said they came after reading about the event in the Epoch Times. One new immigrant from China said he learned a lot by overcoming the Internet blockade through software such as Freegate.
Rejecting the CCP
About 1,000 practitioners participated in the march
Led by the Tian Guo Marching Band, the parade consisted of three sections. The band played the songs “Falun Dafa is good,” “The Sacred Song,” and “Triumphant Return.” The first section introduced Falun Dafa and included models of the Falun emblem, the book Zhuan Falun and a fairy float along with the dragon dance and lion dance teams. The second section exposed the persecution, while the third one invited people to quit the CCP organizations. Together with a model of the book Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, practitioners displayed many banners which had information about on the CCP’s brutality. They were accompanied by the waist drum team.
Yi Rong, Chairperson of the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP, said the CCP is about to end. She hopes this event encourages more Chinese to join the momentum of quitting the CCP. By sharing information with people in China, Chinese people can work together towards a better future without communism.
One resident whose father was a CCP government office shouted, “Down with the CCP!” He said China cannot continue under communist rule. He said the CCP supports terrorism and has brought mankind endless harm.
Learning the Facts
New immigrant Jin Defu thanked practitioners for creating the software Freegate. He said that by using the software he was able to read the Epoch Times and learn the facts. He explained that he read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, and knows the CCP’s history of killing, brutality, and lies. Through Freegate he also found Zhuan Falun and began to practice Falun Dafa secretly in China. He is happy to be able to openly practice it now.
The practice has improved both his physical health and mind nature, Jin added. He used to be upset by other people. Reading Zhuan Falun helped him have an open mind. He hopes more people can learn the facts about Falun Dafa, recognize how the CCP has harmed mankind, and renounce the CCP organizations.
Another resident Jiang said he likes the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He said the CCP abuses Chinese people and many of them fled China. They like the freedom in Western countries and share the information they learn here with their friends and family in China.
Renouncing the CCP
Cheng Xiongying also came from China recently. He came to the parade when he saw an announcement about it in the Epoch Times. When a practitioner chatted with him about the CCP’s crimes and suggested he quit the Party, he immediately agreed.
Cheng said he withdrew from the CCP’s Youth League because the regime has harmed countless Chinese people in numerous political campaigns such as the Cultural Revolution. He likes the freedom in the U.S. and said he hopes people will stay away from the CCP’s brutality.
Street vendor Steve said he really liked the march and took a photo with a float. He said he’s always been interested in Chinese culture and thanked practitioners for their contribution.
Traditional Values
Local resident Lin and his friends watched the march. He said Falun Dafa practitioners are very good people and the event is great. It’s wrong for the CCP to persecute innocent people, and practitioners in China should have freedom to practice their belief and follow traditional values.
After the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was published in 2004, many people learned how the CCP has mistreated Chinese for decades and over 420 million decided to quit the regime.
The CCP’s harm is not limited to China. The world has witnessed how the regime’s lies threatened the world after the pandemic began. After the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP launched the campaign to end the CCP, more than 3.9 million people around the world have signed the petition.
After watching the march and talking with practitioners, 337 people decided to quit the CCP organizations. Sixteen quit the CCP, 42 quit the Youth League, and 279 quit the Young Pioneers.
