(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners held an event to introduce their spiritual practice to the public in the port city of Liepāja, next to Rose Square, on May 2. Banners provided information about Dafa (also called Falun Gong) and exposed the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of the practice. Practitioners collected signatures on a petition calling for an end to the ruthlessness perpetrated by the CCP regime.

Practitioners set up a booth and talked to passersby about Falun Dafa. They explained that the practice is based on the universal principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and that practitioners try to improve their character and become better people by following these principles. They explained that this cultivation discipline is practiced freely in many countries of the world, but not in China, where it originated. Since 1999, practitioners in China have been subjected to an unlawful persecution. In order to stop this genocide-like persecution, practitioners around the world are raising awareness and calling on all people to help end this injustice.

One practitioner talked with a young girl who was passing by the venue. As they talked, the practitioner said that Falun Dafa is an ancient cultivation practice that can be practiced by anyone, regardless of age, social status, or nationality. She said that today, Falun Dafa is practiced in more than 100 countries around the world. The rapid spread of the practice is due to its beneficial effects on the mental and physical well-being of practitioners.

The young woman explained that she had seen an event organized by practitioners a month ago, but she did not have time to stop then to learn more. The practitioner told her that Falun Dafa practitioners in China are illegally arrested, tortured and even killed, their organs harvested and sold for transplant operations. After learning that she had an opportunity to help stop these atrocities, the girl signed the petition to show her support.

After noticing the banners, two teenage girls approached to learn more about Falun Dafa. The teenagers signed the petition and took pamphlets with information about the repression. One said, “Thank you for doing this. It’s a good job. It’s very important.” As they left, one of them hugged the practitioner.

A man approached the table and said that he had read the information on the banners. He signed the petition and thanked the practitioners for informing the public about Falun Dafa and the persecution.
