(Minghui.org) Master Li (Falun Dafa’s founder) has confirmed the importance of Minghui.org and that we should refer to the site’s editorial messages regarding major events. Given the positive impact it can have on our cultivation, we should browse the site on a regular basis, if we have the conditions to do so.
Master said,
“Do you know why I publish information on Minghui? It is to tell you that it is trustworthy, that it is a platform via which Dafa disciples can communicate.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2013 Greater New York Fa Conference,” Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. XII)
I began to browse Minghui.org in 2000 and have never stopped doing so, except for the time I was incarcerated. As soon as I was released, the first thing I would do was to find ways to get on Minghui.org. The site has become a part of my life. It is also a good friend and a teacher that helps me to better cultivate myself and assist Master Li in Fa-rectification.
I realized there are several common misunderstandings about browsing Minghui.org when talking with other practitioners in China: 1) it’s not safe to get onto the site; 2) there is no way for older practitioners to learn how to browse the site because of their advanced age; 3) their family members who don’t practice Falun Dafa wouldn’t let them read the site.
I would like to share my thoughts, and I welcome fellow practitioners to point out anything that is not in line with the teachings of Falun Dafa.
There Is No Safety Concern in Reading Minghui.org
Sometimes when I encouraged fellow practitioners to read Minghui.org directly, their response was “It’s not safe.” Then they would use various reasons to justify it. I feel those were just excuses to hide their fear. And it came from their postnatal notions, and not their true selves.
There are also some practitioners who read every printed issue of Minghui Weekly, but refuse to keep the papers in their homes. After they finish reading it, they return them to the practitioners who delivered the papers to them, resulting in large piles of the papers in those practitioners’ homes. If practitioners who have the conditions to read Minghui.org online, it’s actually much safer and also saves significant resources in printing and distributing the hard copies of Minghui Weekly.
From my own experience, browsing Minghui.org is safe. For the thousands of practitioners arrested in my province, only one practitioner was arrested while reading Minghui.org, and it was due to a mistake by the police, who had intended to arrest someone else who happened to have the same name. Other than that, no other practitioners were arrested or charged for browsing Minghui.org.
Some practitioners believed that if the police found that they were browsing Minghui.org, they would get heavier prison sentences. But the fact is, the police would use anything related to Falun Gong confiscated from their homes, including their Dafa books, decorative paintings, or even their singing a Dafa song, to charge them. When no evidence is found, the police often fabricate evidence to frame them.
When my family and I began to browse Minghui.org in 2000, we didn’t even know how to encrypt our computers. After smartphones became popular, I also learned to read Minghui.org from my phone. Although my family and I have been arrested and sentenced several times, none of us were targeted because of browsing the website. The first thing after we were released was to buy a new computer to access the site.
Dafa practitioners have developed so much software to break through the internet censorship in China. It’s very safe to use them. Even the police admire their capability. Many of my friends who don’t practice Dafa and even the secret police in China are using the software developed by Dafa practitioners to get onto overseas websites, including Minghui.org.
As long as we study the Falun Dafa teachings well, follow Master’s teaching in doing the three things, and cultivate ourselves with righteous thoughts, we won’t encounter any issues in browsing Minghui.org. Whenever a problem occurs, it’s all because of our human attachments.
Never Too Late to Learn
Some practitioners found the excuse that they were older or they weren’t smart enough to learn the skills. But as true cultivators, we have Dafa and Master. As long as we have the wish, Master and Dafa will give us the wisdom and ability.
In my previous Fa-study group, all the practitioners were in their 60s and 70s, and most of them can browse Minghui.org on their own. I’d like to share the stories of two practitioners in their 70s. One of them didn’t know the English letters, but she still managed to learn how to use the keyboard and basic computer skills. She also learned how to browse Minghui.org, download files, and upload names of people who have quit the Chinese Communist Party. Sometimes she also helps prepare flash drives with the exercise music and Master’s lecture videos on them.
Another practitioner’s hand was shaking when he first learned how to use the mouse. But he persisted in learning how to operate the computer and made notes about it. Not long after, he could also use the computer on his own. He also asked his daughter to buy a printer for him so that he could print materials himself.
Don’t Use Family Member as an Excuse
Some practitioners said that their family members were afraid of the persecution and didn’t let them read Minghui.org, and some of these practitioners have been persecuted. However, they all used the excuse of protecting their families or considering their feelings to minimize contact with local practitioners.
Some wanted to join others in the efforts of raising awareness of the persecution, but they always had to do it secretly, fearing that their families would find out. Others became so sensitive that whenever certain practitioners they knew were arrested, they would take their Dafa books to other practitioners’ homes, and they wouldn’t study the Fa in their own homes. There are just all kinds of mentalities.
Master said,
“Dafa disciples are humankind’s only hope for salvation.” (“To the Fa Conference of Europe”)
We all came for Dafa. As Falun Dafa practitioners, we shoulder the responsibilities of helping people to understand Falun Dafa and the persecution so they will realize the importance of quitting the Chinese Communist Party. If we have the true wish to awaken people, Dafa will give us wisdom and the ability. No difficulty or family relations should restrain us.
For the female practitioner that I mentioned above, because she was sentenced before, when she began to learn how to use the computer, she tried to hide it from her daughter and son-in-law, who lived with her. But one day, she was in her room using the computer when her son-in-law saw her. He didn’t say anything but asked her to be careful. She stopped hiding from them and started using the computer openly. From her experience, I realized that many troubles were invited by our own human notions.
We have all signed contracts with Master, and we have great responsibilities on our shoulders. Only by fulfilling our responsibilities well can we live up to the expectations of Master, sentient beings and ourselves, and not leave eternal regrets.
