(Minghui.org) Practitioners rallied in front of the Chinese Consulate in Montreal on July 20, 2023 to condemn the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Dafa, which has been going on for the past twenty four years. They called for an immediate end to the persecution and urged people to see clearly the CCP’s nature, which is against humanity. Many passers-by expressed support.
Practitioners Condemn the CCP’s Persecution
A Falun Dafa practitioner representative, Ms. Yang, said in her speech, “Since July 20, 1999, the CCP has used methods such as cruel tortures, and even live organ harvesting to persecute practitioners. This has been going on for twenty four years. Today, we are gathered here to call on the world’s people to clearly see the CCP’s true nature and come together to stop their evil acts. It’s time to end the persecution.”

“For the past twenty four years, the CCP utilized all its resources to lie and deceive people and maintain this persecution. The main culprit of the persecution, former CCP leader Jiang Zemin, issued an order to, ‘defame their reputation, bankrupt them financially and destroy them physically.’ Under this order, countless Falun Dafa practitioners have been persecuted to death, paralyzed, and some even had their organs taken while they were still alive.
“For the past twenty four years, the Falun Dafa practitioners upheld the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, endured humiliation and persisted in exposing the CCP’s lies to awaken people and governments who have been deceived.”
Family Members Persecuted in China
Montreal resident Ms. Cong requested that the CCP release her 78 year old mother, Ms. Cong Lanying. In January 2023, her mother was sentenced to four years and is incarcerated in the Shandong Women’s Prison. Her family has not been able to contact her or meet with her.
Ms. Cong said that before she began practicing Falun Dafa her mother was plagued with many illnesses. She suffered from heart disease and hyperplasia of the fifth and sixth vertebrae and the pain made her life miserable. After she began practicing, her illnesses were resolved. Falun Dafa saved her mother’s life. However, in 1999, after the persecution started, the police repeatedly came to her mother’s home. They pressured her to stop practicing.
Her mother persisted in practicing and wrote letters to the government at all levels, sharing her personal experience to show that Falun Dafa is good and hoping to stop the persecution. The elderly lady was repeatedly arrested and her house was ransacked.
Many people stopped to listen and signed the petition to call for the release of Ms. Cong Lanying.

Claire, a retired dental assistant and Penny, whose work is related to special education, watched the event. Claire was moved to tears and said, “You have been resisting the persecution for many, many years. I’ve seen practitioners in Chinatown or other places. I’ve also meditated with you during these events, and feel that I am surrounded by love. When I saw you here today, my heart ached. But at the same time, I see hope too.
The CCP only knows power, money, and how to pressure people. They do not know about love and kindness. In order to change all this, action is very important. We thank you for all that you have done.”
“Our Hearts Are with You”
Montreal resident, Mr. Gurband, signed the petition that calls for the release of Ms. Cong Lanying and said, “The CCP is destroying China. It monitors people strictly and persecutes them. The whole history of communism is a disaster. Millions of people are being killed.”
He also said that the CCP’s existence is “a form of shame” to mankind.
Mr. Gabriel and his son from Mexico signed the petition that calls for the release of Ms. Cong Lanying.
Mr. Gabriel and his son are tourists from Mexico. They stopped to listen to the rally and then signed the petition that calls for the release of Ms. Cong Lanying. When he learned that Falun Dafa is practiced all over the world except China, Mr. Gabriel said, “The CCP is a very bad thing for any society or any ethnicity.”
Pierre from Brazil and is engaged in international trade, said, “Our hearts are with all of you.” He thanked practitioners for exposing the CCP’s evil acts and said, “I will tell my friends about this.”
