(Minghui.org) Kaixin and her mother participated in a large Falun Dafa practice site on New Year’s Day in 1997 and watched the video lectures given by Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa. Kaixin was not quite four years old. Despite her youth, she was very attentive to Master’s lecture video. When the local group practice coordinators taught them the Falun Dafa exercises, Kaixin followed the movements. She drew the attention of the coordinators and one commented, “Look at that little girl. Look how beautiful she is when she does the exercise movements!” Kaixin was able to quickly correct her movements when the local coordinator helped her.
Kaixin’s mother pointed to the night sky on the way home and told Kaixin, “There are many worlds up in the stars. Many Buddhas, Daoist and deities are flying and wandering around. It’s wonderful! We should cultivate well so we can be up there too.” Kaixin nodded firmly.
Kaixin and her mother practiced Falun Dafa and spread the practice at a park and then headed to group Fa study every evening. Kaixin would sit quietly and listen as the adults studied the Fa. She would lay on her mother’s legs when she got tired. Her mother would wake Kaixin when the Fa study session ended to go home. Kaixin and her mother did this every day.
Little Kaixin, Thoughtful and Understanding
Kaixin’s mother wanted to buy new clothes for Kaixin for the Chinese New Year. Her mother saw a fluffy pink sweater, but little Kaixin wanted a light yellow cotton sweater. Kaixin’s mother whispered in Kaixin’s ears, “The one you picked is too expensive.” The saleswoman said to Kaixin’s mother, “You daughter picked a really good quality sweater! It is beautiful, too!” Kaixin’s mother hesitated and Kaixin said, “Mommy, I want the fluffy pink sweater you picked out.” Her mother purchased the less expensive sweater.
On the way home, Kaixin said, “I actually wanted the light yellow sweater, but you told me it was expensive. I thought you might be embarrassed in front of the saleswoman so I picked the pink one instead.” Her mother asked, “Do you regret picking the pink sweater?” Kaixin replied, “I like both sweaters!”
Cultivating Her Heart Nature
Kaixin started kindergarten when she was six years old. Two older boys were chasing each other one day when one boy accidentally ran into Kaixin and knocked her down. The boy ran away without looking back. Kaixin slowly got up and was in pain. She saw that her knees were scraped and gently covered the injuries with her hands. Tears came to her eyes as she endured the pain, and she thought, “I need to look inward unconditionally. I did not hit the boy and yet I still got hurt.”
Kaixin recounted the incident to her mother and her mother asked, “Did you tell the teacher?” Kaixin said, “I think he did it accidentally. I don’t blame him!”
Clarifying the Truth to the School Principal
Kaixin was not afraid when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the nationwide persecution of Falun Dafa in July 1999. Not only did she not give up cultivating Falun Dafa, Kaixin also distributed Falun Dafa information materials and hung up banners with her mother at night.
Kaixin was reported by her classmate when she clarified the truth to her. The classmate told the head teacher, who in turn told the principal. When the school day ended, the principal, Kaixin’s head teacher, and a mathematics teacher called Kaixin over. Kaixin was not scared and started to clarify the truth to the three teachers. The principal asked Kaixin, “Do you love your country?” Kaixin said, “Loving the country is not the same as loving the Chinese Communist Party. Falun Dafa teaches people to be more compassionate. Isn’t that a good thing?” The principal was speechless and left. Kaixin’s mathematics teacher called Kaixin over and said, “Please help me withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.”
Kaixin’s head teacher started to take a liking to Kaixin. When Kaixin graduated from elementary school, Kaixin told her the truth about Falun Dafa and helped her withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
Being Fearless and Determined
Kaixin was eating out with her friend one day in high school when several older boys stormed into the store. One of the boys came over to Kaixin and said, “Our boss has taken a liking to you. He wants you to be his girlfriend.” Kaixin’s friend got nervous but Kaixin walked over to the “boss” calmly and said, “Sorry! I am still a student and need to focus on my studies. I cannot be your girlfriend.” Kaixin and her friend left and headed to their evening study session.
A long time later, Kaixin brought up the incident to her mother while they were chatting. Her mother asked, “Weren’t you afraid?” Kaixin was surprised and said, “Why should I have been afraid? I am a Falun Dafa practitioner and have Master’s protection!” Her mother asked if the boys had come to look for her again, and Kaixin said, “I heard from my classmate that the ‘boss’ had to go to another city with his dad to do business.”
Refusing to Bribe Teachers with Expensive Gifts
During the first year of university, many students buy expensive gifts for their teachers on teacher’s appreciation day, hoping to get their teachers’ attention so they will be recommended for a good job after graduation. Instead of getting an expensive gift, Kaixin bought a big cantaloupe for less than 20 yuan (about USD$2.83). She presented it to her teacher alongside the other classmates’ expensive gifts.
When her mother learned about it, she asked, “Wasn’t it obvious when the other classmates gave expensive gifts?” Kaixin replied, “My classmates bought expensive gifts only to please the teacher. I am a Falun Dafa practitioner and cannot do that. Teacher’s Appreciation Day is to show our gratitude for our teachers’ hard work. It is fine to buy teachers gifts, but we need to do it within our financial abilities. As a student, I don’t have an income—I have to rely on my parents’ hard earned money to pay for my tuition. I saved some of my pocket money to buy my teacher a cantaloupe. This was my token of respect. Though the gift may be inexpensive, I was very sincere!”
Kaixin’s teacher held her in high regard and felt that Kaixin was different from her classmates.
Being Considerate of Others at All Times
Kaixin worked as an over the counter representative at a mobile company. She abided by the principles of Dafa in her daily life. She was hardworking and did all the work her supervisors assigned her. However, the department manager always made things difficult for Kaixin. Kaixin was able to maintain her xinxing and was considerate of others.
Kaixin sat down to rest one day when she was done with her work. The manager said, “Your back should not touch the chair and your chest should be a fist away from the table. You should also sit up straight.” Kaixin had no choice but to comply.
Kaixin cried when she got home. Her mother said, “This was an opportunity for you to upgrade your character!” Kaixin said, “I did not abide by Master’s standards for enduring. I endured with tears in my eyes.” Kaixin thought, “Perhaps things are harder for my department manager when his subordinates don’t do well at work.” With this thought, Kaixin was no longer upset and smiled.
Kind and Compassionate Kaixin
An elderly man wanted to pay his phone bill one day. He wrote his phone number on a piece of paper and handed Kaixin 50 yuan to pay his phone bill. Kaixin did so and gave him a receipt.
The man came back the next day and said, “I wrote the wrong phone number down yesterday.” He handed her another 50 yuan. Kaixin thought, “An elderly man like this must be careful with his money. I do not want him to get upset over the 50 yuan.” Kaixin told the man that he did not need to pay the extra 50 yuan, since she had been able to change the numbers. When the man left, Kaixin took 50 yuan from her wallet and paid his phone bill.
Closing Remarks
Time flows as quickly as water in a stream, and 20 years have passed since then. Kaixin is now a young, healthy, and beautiful Falun Dafa practitioner. She has been adhering to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She cultivates herself to be more compassionate. She looks inward, corrects her shortcomings, and is considerate of others.
Everyone has enjoyed being around Kaixin wherever she has worked. Her coworkers would confide in her, because Kaixin follows the teachings of compassionate Master and the guidance of Dafa. She emits positive energy to the people around her!
She is happy to be a Dafa disciple during the Fa-rectification period and be immersed in Dafa!
