(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 9 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Neijiang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. He Li Tortured in Prison
2. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] The Case Against Mr. Liu Jinbo Brought to Court
3. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Kou Juying Officially Arrested
4. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Female Practitioner Arrested
5. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
6. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Liu Lijun Detained
1. [Neijiang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. He Li Tortured in Prison
Ms. He Li, 59, was sentenced to seven years in prison on September 30, 2021. When she was being held in the Neijiang City Detention Center, she went on a hunger strike for seven months to protest the persecution. Her detention center cellmate broke her arm when she did the Falun Gong exercises. In December 2021, Ms. He was taken to Chengdu Women’s Prison while her arm was still bandaged.
As soon as she entered Chengdu Women’s Prison Ms. He Li went on a hunger strike. She was taken to the prison hospital, and force-fed. A Falun Gong practitioner who was also in the hospital told her quietly, “If you go on a hunger strike here, the hospital will mix in depressants when they force-feed you. People who take these drugs become demented.” Ms. He later stopped her hunger strike. She did not take the medicine the doctor tried to give her. Ten days later she was discharged from the hospital.
Ms. He soon went on a hunger strike again because she found that her food had been drugged. They crushed the drugs into powder and mixed it into her food. As a result, she was taken to the hospital every day for force-feeding. After a few days, she called off the hunger strike.
Around May 2023, Ms. He was taken to an outside hospital for treatment. It was reported that it was a psychiatric hospital. She stayed there for about a month before she was returned to her cell.
2. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] The Case Against Mr. Liu Jinbo Brought to Court
Mr. Liu Jinbo from Juwu Village, Guanli Town, Qixia City, was arrested for posting Falun Gong signs. His case was transferred to the Qixia City Court.
3. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Kou Juying Officially Arrested
Ms. Kou Juying, in her 70s, lives in the Guangxinyuan Residential Community in the Shilipu Sub-district. Her case was transferred to the Baqiao District Court, where the person in charge is Duan Wenwen.
In 2021, Duan sentenced Jin Rong in the Lianhu District to six years in prison. Duan deceived Jin’s family members, depriving them of the right to defend Jin and preventing Jin from appealing. After the family’s repeated inquiries, it was confirmed that Jin’s appeal letter had not been submitted to the Xi’an Intermediate Court.
4. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Female Practitioner Arrested
A female practitioner in her 60s was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong in the Xudong area on the evening of August 2, 2023. She told them that by reciting “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” they would stay safe during the pandemic or other disasters. She was arrested.
On the afternoon of August 3, several police officers ransacked her rented house. The practitioner lives by herself. The details of her situation are unknown. It is not yet clear where she is being held.
5. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
Around July 24, Zhucheng City police arrested several practitioners.
Around 10 a.m. on July 25, the officers arrested Cao Ying from the Zhengdawenyuan Residential Community.
Chen Xuefen was arrested on July 25 and taken to Weifang City, where she was sentenced to one year and two months in prison.
Zhao Qinghua left home to avoid being persecuted.
6. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Liu Lijun Detained
Ms. Liu Lijun was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials. She was arrested and taken to the Jiujiang City Detention Center by officers from the Xunyang District Domestic Security Division on July 21, 2023. She was detained for 15 days. She has returned home.
