(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners held a press conference on July 28, 2023 to tell people how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is attempting to stop Shen Yun performances in South Korea. They delivered a petition in front of the Presidential Residence of South Korea.

The August issue of The Monthly Chosun, the leading monthly magazine in South Korea, recently published a report on the CCP’s attempts to interfere with Shen Yun’s performances. According to a recent report, a representative from the Chinese embassy in South Korea told a reporter from The Monthly Chosun, “We do not agree that interfering with Shen Yun performances is disrupting South Korea’s sovereignty. We will continue to follow the Chinese embassy directive and reject Falun Dafa practitioners’ requests to rent theaters in South Korea.” Dr. Wu Shilie, secretary of the Falun Dafa Association in South Korea, said that the CCP is bluntly stating it will ignore South Korea’s sovereignty and will continue to interfere with Shen Yun’s performances and Falun Dafa activities.

Dr. Wu said, “As victims of the CCP’s persecution, we have decided to hold a press conference and petition the president in regards to the statement issued by the Chinese embassy. We are also exposing how the CCP interferes in South Korea’s internal affairs and how it violates the country’s cultural sovereignty. We hope today’s event will be an opportunity for all South Korean citizens to recognize the true, evil nature of communism.”

After Mr. Quan Hongda finished reading the petition addressed to South Korea’s president, Yoon Suk Yeol, he held a press conference and delivered the petition. Reporters of The Monthly Chosun, who published the article in August were also present.

The civil service petition center has not yet been established due to the relocation of South Korea’s presidential residence. Therefore, a liaison officer from the Yongsan Police Station received the petition and forwarded it to the president’s residence. Local representatives from various organizations were also present to show their support for Falun Dafa practitioners. This was an opportunity to tell the public about the persecution of Falun Dafa.
