(Minghui.org) The Chinese Communist Party launched the persecution of Falun Gong, a mind and body practice that is based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, on July 20, 1999. Practitioners who refused to give up their faith have been arrested and tortured in their local detention centers, labor camps and prisons.

When female practitioners in Shandong Province refuse to renounce their faith in Falun Gong, they are often unlawfully sentenced and put in Shandong Province Women’s Prison. The prison authorities actively participate in the persecution, and use brutal means to torture and brainwash the practitioners until they break down and agree to stop practicing.

“Strict management” is one of the torture methods frequently used by the prison guards. The guards would put a practitioner in solitary confinement and instigate several inmates to watch her closely around the clock and physically assault her. The practitioner is prohibited from talking to others, as well as being prevented from taking a shower, brushing her teeth, and using a toilet, and not given enough food. The guards beat and torture them at will.

The following are several recent cases of Falun Gong practitioners who are under strict management in the prison.

1. Ms. Hu Jinhui, 58, lived in Shengzhuang Town, Linyi City. She was arrested at home on September 29, 2018 and subsequently sentenced to nine years in prison by the Lanshan District Court in Linyi City. She was transferred to Shandong Province Women’s Prison in August 2019. Because she refused to renounce her faith, she has been under strict management since December 2022.

2. Ms. Li Xue, 46, lived in Jiaozhou City. She was sentenced to ten years in prison by the Jiaozhou City Court in 2015. She was transferred to Shandong Province Women’s Prison in August 2016, and has been put under strict management since April 2023, after she refused to follow the guards’ orders.

Prior to the latest sentence, she served a seven-year sentence for practicing Falun Gong, and was released in 2013, only two years before her latest sentence.

3. Ms. Duan Peiqin is about 80 years old and lived in Tai’an City. A guard instigated an inmate to write a “thought report” and forced Ms. Duan to copy it as her own.

Ms. Duan complained about the guards’ abuse on April 21, 2023. Four guards and two inmates dragged her to a bathroom with no surveillance cameras. They took turns beating and kicking her. An inmate forcefully kneed her in the groin, and a guard repeatedly slammed her hands against the wall. Her hands were badly injured and became severely swollen. She was sent to a hospital for treatment in a wheelchair the next day.

4. A practitioner in her 70s has been under strict management for over two years. She is currently being force-fed three times a day in a hospital. The feeding tube is inserted into her nostril down to her stomach, and remains there. Besides sleeping, she has to stand all day in her hospital room. When she has to go to the bathroom, one inmate walks in front of and the other behind her to prevent her from talking to others or running away.

5. A practitioner in her 60s used to be a doctor. She is less than 5 feet tall (150 cm) and her name is unknown. The guards instigate other inmates to abuse her because she refuses to cooperate with the guards’ orders.
