(Minghui.org) A local practitioner brought me a box of persimmons that an 81-year-old man from China had asked her to give me. The man had said to her: “Those who practice Falun Gong are great people.”
A day prior, the practitioner had asked me to help her fill in a form. By the time I arrived at her apartment, it was already 11:30 p.m. When I finished filling in the form, it was midnight. I ran into an elderly Asian man as I walked out of the elevator. He asked me in broken English if I could do him a favor. I answered, “Sure.” He told me that he had gone downstairs to take out his trash and had accidentally left his key in his apartment. He was locked out of his apartment.
He asked if I could call his son and ask him to drop off a spare key. I called the son’s number twice, but no one picked up. I asked the man if he was from China and he said he was. I asked him what he planned to do and he said he had no choice but to spend the night on the sofa in the reception on the first floor until someone arrived at the office at 8 a.m. He could ask the staff to help open the door to his apartment.
I saw that he was wearing his pajamas. It was cold in the reception area and I was worried he might catch a cold. I said to him: “If you have your son’s address, I can take you there to pick up the key.” He was overjoyed and told me he knows where his son lives.
Along the way, I told him what his neighbor, the practitioner whom I had helped fill in the form, went through in China for refusing to give up her practice of Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong). The practitioner was detained for more than three years. She is now in her 70s and had been forced to live outside China to avoid the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. If I hadn’t come to help her complete the form, I wouldn’t have met the man.
He guessed that I also practice Falun Dafa. He asked me some questions about the benefits of practicing Falun Dafa and about the April 25 appeal. I explained to him that the CCP had come up with many lies to vilify the practice.
He kept thanking me when we got to his son’s house and told me to drive home carefully. He said he was going to ask his son to take him home. I looked at the time and it was nearly 1 a.m. I said: “Let me take you home. If you wake your son, he will not be able to go back to bed and it will affect his work tomorrow.”
The man did not expect me to offer to take him home. He said repeatedly: “You are so kind.” He quickly entered his son’s house from the garage, took the spare key and got into my car. On the way back, he asked several questions about Falun Gong. By the time we arrived at his apartment, he had a basic understanding of the practice.
He told me that he had moved into the apartment a year ago and had some misunderstandings about Falun Gong in the past. It was the first time he had gotten to know a Falun Gong practitioner. He did not realize Falun Gong practitioners are so kind. I told him that those who truly practice Falun Dafa will follow the teachings and are considerate.
I watched him enter his apartment building before driving home. By the time I got home, it was 1:30 a.m.
The next day, the old man took a box of persimmons that he had picked from a tree in his son’s backyard and went to his neighbor’s apartment. He could not contain how touched he was by my gesture and asked the local practitioner to give the persimmons to me.
I am grateful to Master for bringing me a predestined person who had been misled by the CCP’s propaganda and for giving him the opportunity to learn the truth.
