(Minghui.org) I started the practice of Falun Dafa in 1998, and I will be 64 this year. I would like to share the promise I made to my mother-in-law. She is 100 this year and is not a practitioner. Because she has treated Dafa practitioners kindly, Master Li has extended her life.

The Story of Two Nuns

When I first started practicing Falun Dafa, my mother-in-law told me a story about two Buddhist nuns that she was told when she was young. The nuns lived on a mountain and practiced a cultivation way. When local bandits harassed them, the older nun sat down calmly and departed this world via nirvana. But the younger nun was terrified and tried to hide. The bandits eventually found her and took her away.

My mother-in-law said that the older nun achieved consummation. I thought that my mother-in-law had rather good enlightenment quality and perhaps she had practiced cultivation in her previous lives.

My Mother-in-Law Opposed the Persecution

Because I refused to give up practicing Falun Dafa, the police came to my house to arrest me. “You can’t take her away,” my mother-in-law told them. “I need her to take care of me.”

The police wanted to confiscate the VCD player that we used to play videos of Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa, lecturing on the Fa. To stop them, my mother-in-law said firmly, “That is mine. Don’t you touch it.” The police left it alone. My mother-in-law was in her 80s at the time.

My Mother-in-Law’s Kindness

After the persecution started, I was once unlawfully held in a detention center. After my release, most of my husband’s family members and relatives were very cold towards me. My mother-in-law was not. She held my hands warmly and said with tears in her eyes, “My child, you have suffered a lot.” Her kindness touched me.

Not long after I was released, the police started coming to our home to harass us. Under the enormous pressure, my husband fell ill and passed away not long after.

While grieving over her son’s passing, my mother-in-law still encouraged me to study the Dafa teachings more often, do the exercises, and respect Master. She was very nice to me because I once said to her, “I am a Falun Dafa practitioner, and my Master told us to be kind to people. It’s our Master who has taught me to be kind to you, too.”

My mother-in-law once said to me, “If I knew how to read and weren’t deaf, I would learn Falun Dafa, too.

A Promise to My Mother-in-Law

It has been over 10 years since I moved over 1,000 km away, and my mother-in-law went back to her hometown to live with her other children. Due to the distance between us and the fact that the police tracked my ID card, it was very difficult for me to travel to see her.

I still remember the day we parted. My mother-in-law held my hands tightly and asked, “When will we see each other again?”

I said to her solemnly, “When Master is back. You must wait for me.” This is a promise I made to my mother-in-law.

My mother-in-law is now 100 years old. My daughter told me that her grandma has suffered a number of serious health issues, and her children have already prepared for her funeral, but each time she miraculously recovers.

I know in my heart that Master has extended her life because of her kindness to Dafa disciples. She has been compassionately blessed.

The persecution will soon come to an end, and it will not be long before Master Li returns to China. I hope my mother-in-law can hold on till then and is able to see him with her own eyes. I also hope that my mother-in-law and I will see each other again, just as I promised her.
