(Minghui.org) In the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) history book, the regime is always “great, glorious, and correct,” Under its rule, there are almost no disasters or crises. Even when natural disasters strike, the situation will soon be “corrected” and everything will be back in harmony again. Below are a few examples.
The CCP did not publish the death toll from the Great Famine that occurred between 1959 and 1962 and attributed the cause to bad weather—except that meteorological data shows the weather was perfectly fine during that period. In the book Tombstone: The Great Chinese Famine, 1958-1962 by journalist Yang Jisheng, he estimated that the death toll was at least 30 million. In Mao’s Great Famine published in 2010, professor and historian Frank Dikötter roughly calculated the number of deaths to be at least 45 million.
On August 8, 1975, dozens of dams collapsed near Zhumadian in Henan Province. About 230,000 people were estimated to have died in the tragedy. The root cause was determined to be the poor quality of dams built during the Great Leap Forward. Although this incident ranked first in “The 10 Ultimate Technological Disasters in the World” by the Discovery Channel in 2005, surpassing the Chornobyl nuclear power plant explosion and the Bhopal gas tragedy, most people in China do not know about it because they never heard about it on the news.
After the 1976 Tangshan earthquake, the CCP initially announced a death toll of 655,000 but later “corrected” it to 240,000. When clothes ration coupons were distributed at end of the year, only 650,000 people took the coupons, while the population in Tangshan before the earthquake was around 1.2 million. Based on this information, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimated that about 655,000 people actually died.
30 Deaths in a Month
The Shanghai Journal of Preventive Medicine published an article in January 2024, titled “Investigation on Excess Deaths from Chronic Diseases During the COVID-19 Epidemic in One District in Shanghai.” According to the article, after the CCP lifted the lockdown in one district in Shanghai in December 2022, the estimated death toll from COVID-19 was 7,651. The research group, however, confirmed the total number of deaths to be 20,990. But around the same time in the same district, the official death toll from COVID-19 was only 232, about 1/90 of the number reported in the article.
In early January 2023, images obtained by Voice of America through the satellite company Planet Labs showed that at the end of December 2022, long lines of vehicles appeared in front of funeral parlors in some cities in China. From the image database released by Google Earth Pro, the traffic flow at the Panyu District Funeral Home in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, and Shenyang Funeral Home in Liaoning Province in December 2022 had never been as crowded in the past five to ten years.
According to the Voice of America report, keyword searches like “funeral parlors” and “crematorium” began to rise on Baidu (the dominant internet search engine in China) in mid-December 2022 and the peak lasted for about two weeks.
A Washington Post article also reported satellite images from many places in China, with long lines of people waiting outside of crematoriums all over the country to have their deceased relatives cremated.
One netizen wrote on Weibo: “After the lockdown was lifted at the end of 2022, the situation in crematoriums across the country was something never seen before. They were running from morning till night, and there were long lines every day. The deceased were laid out on the ground. It was a disaster. Every town had designated drivers to transport dead bodies to crematoriums. The drivers were so busy they slept only three hours a day.”
In an opinion article by Radio France Internationale on January 8, 2023, the Chinese National Health Commission reported 120,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 30 deaths one month after the lockdown was lifted. The article commented that “the 30 deaths nationwide makes people suspect that the health commission was deliberately mocking the Communist Party and Xi Jinping… even if just counting the deaths of college faculty and staff in the Haidian District, Beijing, or the deaths of veteran cadres in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the number of cases far exceeded 30!”
The New “Influenza A”
Since the end of 2023, hospitals in China have seen another wave of people with respiratory conditions. Wenzhou Metropolis Daily, a local newspaper in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, reported on February 17, 2024, that about 30,000 people were treated by four local hospitals in the first eight days of the Chinese New Year holiday season. These patients mainly had respiratory tract infections. The emergency rooms were also filled with people with pulmonary infections.
In the First Affiliated Hospital of Wen Medical University, one of the hospitals mentioned in the Wenzhou Metropolis Daily report, more than 10,000 patients were treated there around Chinese New Year. About 40% of them had respiratory diseases such as lung infections. Zhao Guangju, Deputy Director of the emergency department of the hospital, said that the emergency room was full during the New Year period and “all the spaces that can accommodate extra beds have been added.” Most of those who were critically ill in the emergency room had severe respiratory disease.
Similarly, the emergency department of Wenzhou People’s Hospital sees between 600 and 700 adult and over 200 children every day. Among them, respiratory infections are the most common.
On the TikTok topic page about hospitalization in China, a Hunan Province netizen said, “My mother also had a respiratory infection, which has now led to a heart attack!” A Sichuan Province netizen said, “My wife and I went to the countryside in Chongqing to attend a banquet. We both caught colds. I’m sure it’s a new coronavirus mutant, but no one is allowed to talk about it now.” Some netizens commented “The epidemic situation in Beijing and Tianjin is very serious, and lung infections are the majority.”
Multiple social media platforms in China have posted about an increasing number of incidents of people “falling on the ground dead” recently, most of them young people. There was a video showing a passenger faint heading for the T25 train at Shanghai South Railway Station on January 15, 2024. In the video, a person was seen lying on the platform with a train nearby, an attendant doing CPR on him. Some netizens said, “This kind of collapse has become a very familiar scene. Scary!”
One Weibo user said in a post, “I have seen too many sudden deaths this year, which may be due to the side effects of the COVID-19 infection.” Another one said, “On the first day of the New Year, my neighbor held a funeral after the couple’s son who suddenly died in his 30s. I have only one wish in 2024—to survive the year despite the threat of COVID-19!”

Despite the overwhelming cases reported by people on social media, the official data announced by the CCP presents a different story.
According to data from WHO, the number of hospitalized patients increased by 42% in December 2023 compared to one month earlier, and the number of patients who needed intensive care increased by 62%. But in the update provided by the China CDC on January 10, 2024, only 88 additional patients needed intensive care and there were only 11 deaths across all 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in China.
Netizen “Hai Kuo Ping Yu Yue” tweeted on X that the authorities do not allow the diagnosis to be recorded as a COVID-19 infection. He said that, to get a death certificate issued at the Civil Affairs Bureau, one had to follow the sample text posted on the glass window: “I guarantee that the deceased did not die from COVID-19. If there is any falsehood, I will be responsible for the consequences.”
In a post by a TikTok user, a 51-year-old woman in Jiangsu Province had the flu for 10 days, resulting in respiratory failure and loss of lung function. Based on her X-ray, the doctor concluded that “Both of her lungs are white, one caused by the Influenza A virus and the other by a mixed infection.” When a Hunan Province netizen asked, “Is there still a coronavirus?” many netizens replied, “It’s always there! It just changed its name—it’s now called ‘Influenza A!’”
The Mobile Pet Cremation Vehicles
Concurrent with the increasing number of people with respiratory infections in January 2024, people began to notice that mobile pet cremations were being advertised in China. The vehicle is 5.3 meters (17 feet) long, 2 meters (7 feet) wide, 2.47 meters (8 feet) high, and weighs 3.51 tons. It advertises that the combustion process is smoke-free, no exhaust, and it is odorless.
According to the “2020 China Pet Industry White Paper,” in the urban pet (mainly dogs and cats) consumer market, the rate of pet funerals was only 3.6%. Some netizens pointed out on a Weibo post, “If my pet dies, I will bury it or burn it myself. No one would have them cremated. There is no market for this thing that burns pets.”
Although the ads claim that the vehicle provides pet cremation services, its 120 kg (265 lbs)-150 kg (330lbs) cremation capacity has left many people to wonder whether there are so many pets out there to be cremated. “This is scary. It can be used on people as well as pets,” one netizen commented in the same Weibo post.
The Delayed Release of the Virus Sequence
The CCP not only blatantly covered up the number of COVID-19 deaths, but, more importantly, it has also never been transparent about how exactly the pandemic started, when Wuhan City, the capital of Hubei Province, was pinpointed as ground zero.
According to U.S. congressional investigators, Chinese researchers had already isolated and mapped the virus that causes COVID-19 by the end of December 2019, one month before Wuhan was locked down to contain the spread of the virus.
An article in the Wall Street Journal indicated that documents obtained by the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services showed that on December 28, 2019, researchers from the Institute of Pathogen Biology from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in Beijing uploaded the sequence of a coronavirus to a database in the U.S. That sequence is almost identical to the virus that caused COVID-19 officially released by the CCP on January 10, 2020. The U.S. congressional committee concluded that the CCP concealed the sequence of the virus for two weeks.
Experts say those two weeks were crucial for the international medical community to figure out how COVID-19 spreads and to develop corresponding intervention plans. But the CCP did nothing during the time except to allow international flights to fly from mainland China to all parts of the world.
Seeing Through the Lies of the Chinese Communist Party
Since 1949, the CCP has never stopped promoting its culture of hatred, atheism, and evolution. They replaced traditional values and virtues with deception, suppression, and violence. Brainwashed by the Party, people in China, especially young people, have lost the ability to discern what is true.
After realizing that the Chinese population was declining after the SARS epidemic in 2003, the CCP finally lifted its draconian one-child policy (that is, a couple can only have one child). In January 2016, it launched its second-child policy throughout country, encouraging couples to have two children. After the nationwide COVID-19 epidemic broke out in 2020, in order to increase the population, the three-child policy was launched in May 2021.
On January 15, 2023, Master Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, said that the CCP has been covering up the pandemic for more than three years. The pandemic in China has already killed 400 million people. When it ends, a total of 500 million people in China will have died. Master Li also said that when SARS spread in China in 2003, 200 million people died.
Why would the CCP want to cover up those deaths? Obviously, it is to maintain its “reputation” for “glory and greatness” to maintain its grip on the Chinese people. As long as China is ruled by the CCP, major disasters and massive numbers of deaths simply will not be “allowed.”
