(Minghui.org) Mr. Guo Meixue just got on his electric bike to go to work around 6:30 a.m. on February 28, 2024, when he was seized by five people and taken back to his home. He is now facing indictment for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Mr. Guo lives in Dongnan Village, Beima Town, Longkou City, Shandong Province. The five people included Lyu Changming (secretary of Dongnan Village, +86-185-54037977), officer Guo Fudui (+86-18660067090, +86-15318627858) from the Longkou City Police Department, and three plainclothes agents whose identities were unknown. They targeted Mr. Guo because he talked to people about Falun Gong near his workplace (a factory in Haidai Town, Longkou City).

The police flashed a summons and took Mr. Guo back to his home. They ransacked it and confiscated more than twenty Falun Gong books and several copies of Falun Gong informational materials. They did not give him a list of the items they confiscated as required by law.

Mr. Guo was interrogated at the Beima Town Police Station. The police demanded to know where he got the Falun Gong materials and it’s unclear whether he answered the question.

Officer Guo took Mr. Guo to the Longkou Chinese Medicine Hospital for a physical examination after the interrogation. That afternoon, Mr. Guo was put on criminal detention and taken to the Longkou City Detention Center. He went on a hunger strike for five days to protest the arbitrary detention.

Two people from the Longkou City Procuratorate deposed Mr. Guo at the detention center on the morning of March 8, 2024. Officer Guo came that afternoon to say that Mr. Guo was issued a formal arrest warrant. He is now facing indictment for his faith.

Mr. Guo’s parents in their 80s and ailing mother-in-law struggle to cope with his arrest.
