(Minghui.org) I met Ms. Liu in the park today when she was sitting on a bench enjoying the sunshine. She looked kind and said hello to me. We chatted, and she shared her life story with me.
Saved Many and “Killed” Many
She said she was eighty years old and used to be a village doctor who worked in a township health center. Sick people in the village went to her for medication. She also knew how to deliver babies and perform dilation and curettage (D&C) operations. She had good medical skills and helped deliver many babies.
One day, when a pregnant woman started to hemorrhage, she saved both the mother and baby. Over the years, she saved the lives of many people.
Many years ago, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) carried out “family planning” and instituted the one-child policy. However, some people had unplanned pregnancies and had to secretly give birth to their children or have to pay a hefty fine. So, it was common for women to hide a second pregnancy. She got many secret requests to deliver babies, often one after another. Sometimes, families had to hide her when the authorities came searching for her.
When she was an intern at the county family planning service facility, the bodies of aborted babies were thrown away in buckets every day. However, she never aborted a late-term pregnancy by injecting a concentrated saline solution.
One night, when she was on duty, a full-term pregnant woman came in. Ms. Liu secretly kept the baby alive and quickly let the child’s father take him away, saving the baby’s life.
On another night, she saved a baby girl’s life. But the next morning, the police and staff from the Family Planning Bureau and the Health Bureau surrounded the baby girl’s family. The father became very firm and shouted, “Whoever dares to kill my child will have to go over my dead body!”
The director of the family planning service center was scared and thought they would be punished if people found out that they kept the baby alive. Ms. Liu said, “I made the decision to let the father take the baby. That’s his baby!” After the authorities had a meeting about this incident, they issued a warning that such activity must never happen again.
When Ms. Liu’s daughter got older, Ms. Liu taught her how to deliver babies and perform a D&C. They worked together to deliver countless babies. One day, they delivered eleven children.
Due to the CCP’s family restriction policy, in that era, it was routine for doctors to induce early labor for women who had an unplanned pregnancy, thereby killing countless babies. Ms. Liu and her daughter also performed numerous D&C operations to terminate pregnancies. After her daughter got married, they divided the workload: her daughter performed the D&Cs, and she delivered babies.
Owing a Debt
For a while, her daughter suffered from a mental problem, causing her to yell at Ms. Liu, “Good for you! The babies you delivered became officials or went on to graduate school. But what happened to those that I shaved off?”
Later, a fortune teller said that this happened because the spirits of those little infants came to torment her daughter. So they burned a lot of paper money for the little infant spirits.
Life Struggles
Ms. Liu said she regretted hurting those little infants, but sometimes she became defensive because she felt she also saved many babies. She felt sad and was struggling.
I shared with her about the issue of killing as explained in Zhuan Falun. Performing dilation and curettage is killing an infant. Although it was still unborn, it was a human being and should not have been killed.
I told her about a Falun Dafa practitioner named Xia. When she was young, she followed the CCP’s one-child policy and had only one child. When she became pregnant with a second child, she had an abortion. Later, she had a dream in which a little girl said to her, “Mom, why didn’t you want me?” After practicing Falun Dafa, she realized that abortion was also killing and regretted what she had done very much.
Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa, taught us:
“In the past, Buddhism held that lives that were not supposed to die would, if killed, become lonesome spirits and homeless ghosts. Before, rituals were performed to free these people’s souls from misery. Without such services, these souls would have nothing to eat or drink and would live in a situation full of suffering. This is what Buddhism said in the past.” (Lecture Seven, Zhuan Falun)
Ms. Liu said she did not know this at that time and just merely followed orders. I said one has to pay for what one does. Debts must be repaid. Those little infant spirits would come back to collect the debts she owed.
Being Saved
I told her that repeating the auspicious phrases “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are good” would be beneficial for her. “You can also tell those infant spirits in your heart to remember ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are good’ and listen to Master Li’s arrangements.”
She was very moved! “God arranged for me to meet you today,” she said. “I will repeat the auspicious phrases.” I replied, “You should thank Master Li. It was Master Li’s arrangement for me to chat with you today to tell you the truth so you can be saved.”
She said, “Thank you, Master Li.” She also agreed to quit her membership in the CCP. I gave her some Dafa materials to read. She said she would take them home and read them.
Master taught us:
“The Fa-rectification moves through the world, the grand manifestation of Gods and Buddhas unfolds, and all of the chaotic world’s unrighted wrongs and karmic relationships are settled with benevolent solutions.” (“Foretelling the Fa’s Rectification of the Human World,” The Essentials of Diligent Progress II)
For this elderly lady, hearing the Falun Buddha Fa at the age of eighty resolved the struggles in her life.
